Welcome to our latest blog post recapping the Philadelphia Eagles’ and New England Patriots’ backups playing in a recent football game. No matter the outcome, we always hand out 10 awards that make the game worth remembering.

1) The ‘It’s a Wrap’ Award 🌯: Mekhi Becton

Despite not suiting up for the game, Mekhi Becton’s absence spoke volumes in the Eagles’ starting RG competition. Tyler Steen stepping in was a clear sign that the competition is coming to a close.

The Eagles’ starting OL lineup looks beefy:

  • LT Jordan Mailata: 6’8, 365
  • LG Landon Dickerson: 6’6, 332
  • C Cam Jurgens: 6’3, 303
  • RG Mekhi Becton: 6’7, 363
  • RT Lane Johnson: 6’6, 325

It’s clear that the Eagles are bringing the size upfront.

2) The ‘Adding Injury To Insult’ Award 🩼: Tyler Steen

Not only did Tyler Steen lose the starting RG competition again, but he also injured his ankle during the game, adding insult to injury. This setback opens the door wider for Mekhi Becton to secure his spot.

3) The ‘Beating’ Award 😝: Kenny Pickett

Despite completing 11 of 13 passes for 67 yards in the first half, Kenny Pickett had a tough outing with minimal offensive support. The Eagles’ offense struggled, and Pickett faced relentless pressure from the Patriots.

4) The ‘QB2?’ Award 🥈: Tanner McKee

Tanner McKee showcased superior passing skills compared to Pickett, despite the tougher Patriots defense. His performance raises questions about the backup quarterback position.

5) The ‘Uh Oh’ Award 😬: James Bradberry

James Bradberry faced challenges adjusting to his new position at safety, leading to missed tackles and defensive breakdowns. The transition from corner to safety proved challenging for Bradberry.

6) The Derek Barnett Award For Excellence In Committing Dumb Penalties 😖: Nolan Smith

Defensive player Nolan Smith made costly errors, underlining the need for better discipline on the field.

7) The ‘Stock Up’ Award 📈: The young linebackers

Youthful linebackers showed promise with standout plays, offering hope for an improved defensive unit.

8) The ‘Pick-6, ehhhhh, or not’ Award 🙅‍♂️: Avonte Maddox

Avonte Maddox intercepted a pass yet decided to halt his return, showcasing wisdom on the field.

9) The ‘Rest Up’ Award 🛌: Jalen Hurts and the starters

As the Eagles’ offensive starters sat out, Jalen Hurts and co. geared up for the regular season, maximizing their rest time.

10) The ‘Undefeated’ Award: The Eagles

The Eagles emerged victorious again, maintaining a perfect preseason record and displaying promising potential for the upcoming season.
