Get ready for the excitement as runners gear up to take on South Philly this weekend, sending cars on a detour. The Philly 10K is set to kick off at 7:30 a.m. at 8th and South streets on Sunday, leading participants through the Italian Market and Pennsport before crossing the finish line at 5th and South.
With road closures and parking restrictions in place, it’s important to plan ahead if you’ll be in the area. Here’s what you need to know:

Whether rain or shine, traffic delays are expected throughout the event. Here’s a breakdown of the road closures and bus detours:
Road closures
From 1 a.m. to 2 p.m., the following blocks will be closed off:
• 4th Street from South to Bainbridge streets
• 5th Street from South to Monroe streets
• East Passyunk Avenue from South to Monroe streets
• Bainbridge Street from 5th to 3rd streets
Additional closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. until the race concludes at noon, including:
• 6th Street from South Street to Washington Avenue
• Washington Avenue from 6th Street to Moyamensing Avenue
• Moyamensing Avenue from Washington to Snyder avenues
• Snyder Avenue from Moyamensing Avenue to 13th Street
• And more…
South Street from 4th to 11th streets will also be closed from 2 a.m. until noon, with roads reopening as runners pass through.
Parking restrictions
Parking will be prohibited on closed streets from 1 a.m. to 2 p.m. Look out for temporary “no parking” signs to avoid getting towed.
Bus detours
SEPTA routes 12, 23, 29, 40, 45, 47, 47M, 57, 64, and 79 will be detoured from midnight to noon on Sunday. Visit SEPTA’s website for more information on specific detours.
