Last week, the Philadelphia 76ers were in search of players to fill their remaining roster spots with veteran’s minimum deals. I highlighted four potential players who could bring value to the team in a supporting role. Three of those players are still available in the free agent market.
4 Free Agents the Sixers Could Sign to Veteran’s Minimum Contracts
After securing KJ Martin with a lucrative two-year, $16 million contract, the Sixers are now limited to offering minimum contracts for the remainder of the offseason. Assuming their plan to sign Adem Bona to a standard NBA deal goes through, they will have three open roster spots to fill.
Here are four external free agents, not previously with the Sixers, who could make an impact for the team in the upcoming season.
Dennis Smith Jr.
Dennis Smith Jr. was once viewed as a draft steal when he was selected 9th overall in 2017 by the Dallas Mavericks. While he didn’t meet early expectations, Smith has since transformed into a tenacious defender and could bring athleticism and disruption to the Sixers roster.
Despite offensive limitations, Smith’s defensive skills could make him a valuable addition to the team as a third-string point guard.
Cedi Osman
Cedi Osman, a versatile wing player, has shown consistent improvement in his shooting percentages. With a solid defensive presence and the ability to stretch the floor, Osman could provide valuable minutes for the Sixers, especially in small-ball lineups.
Justin Holiday
Justin Holiday, a seasoned NBA veteran, brings reliability and defensive prowess to the table. His ability to guard multiple positions and knock down three-pointers could make him a valuable asset off the bench for the Sixers.
Oshae Brissett
Oshae Brissett, known for his energy and rebounding skills, could provide the Sixers with the frontcourt depth they need. While his offensive game may need improvement, his athleticism and work ethic make him an intriguing prospect for the team.
