Did you catch the Eagles and Patriots game on Thursday? Despite being a preseason matchup, it was a crucial audition for several players vying for roster spots as the regular season approaches.

In the Eagles’ narrow 14-13 victory, the defense saw some starters in action during the first half, while the offense featured second and third-string players. If you missed the game, no worries – we’ve got you covered.

Let’s take a closer look at some standout players who made significant contributions to enhance their chances of making the final roster:

1. Avonte Maddox, DB

With an abundance of talented cornerbacks joining the team, Maddox faced stiff competition to secure his place in the lineup. Despite the challenge, Maddox impressed by snagging an interception early in the game, displaying his capabilities at safety.

Position Starter Back up Depth
Outside CB Darius Slay Kelee Ringo Eli Ricks
Slot Quinyon Mitchell Cooper DeJean Zech McPhearson

Despite facing tough competition, Maddox showcased his skills and made a strong case for a starting role.

2. Will Shipley, RB

Rookie running back Shipley displayed his versatility by contributing both on the ground and as a pass-catcher. With solid performances in Preseason Game 2, Shipley demonstrated his potential to challenge for playing time behind Barkley and Gainwell.

One of Shipley’s standout plays was a 19-yard screen pass that helped the Eagles convert a challenging 2nd and 22 situation.

Shipley’s ability to make an impact in both the running and passing game makes him a valuable asset for the Eagles’ offense going forward.

3. The Linebackers

The Eagles’ linebackers showcased their skills and potential to be a strong unit this season. Players like Baun, Trotter Jr., and Dean made impactful plays throughout the game, displaying their ability to defend both the run and pass.

With standout performances from the linebackers, the Eagles’ defense could emerge as a formidable force in the upcoming season.

Overall, the game provided a glimpse into the Eagles’ roster depth and potential strengths heading into the regular season. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach kickoff!
