Exciting workouts, fantastic facilities, and top-notch equipment – all at Blink Fitness in Philadelphia! Unfortunately, after the end of this month, Blink Fitness will be closing its two gyms in the city – marking the end of an era for Pennsylvania residents.
With gyms located at 5597 Tulip St. in Wissinoming and 330 W. Oregon Ave. in South Philadelphia, these locations have been a home away from home for fitness enthusiasts in the area. Blink Fitness made the difficult decision to close these venues as part of its bankruptcy filing, citing $280 million in debt.
But fear not! The company, with its 101 gyms spread across seven states, is actively seeking a buyer to ensure a smooth transition for its loyal members. Equinox, Blink Fitness’s current owner, is optimistic about finding the right match to carry the baton forward.

“After evaluating our options, the Board and management team determined that using the court-supervised process to optimize the Company’s footprint and effectuate a sale of the business is the best path forward for Blink and will help ensure Blink remains the destination for all people seeking an inclusive, community-focused gym,” stated Guy Harkless, president and CEO of Blink Fitness.
While some locations may be closing, Blink Fitness is committed to continue serving its members at their most popular spots during the bankruptcy process. With $21 million already raised from lenders to support the proceedings, Blink Fitness is poised to navigate this challenging phase with resilience.
More than just a New York-centric chain, Blink Fitness has made its mark in various states like Illinois, California, Massachusetts, Texas, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, with 15 locations in the Garden State. Unfortunately, gyms in Parsippany and Union, New Jersey, will also be closing on Aug. 30.
