The incident occurred at 3:20 a.m. on Interstate-95 North at mile marker 26.8 near Port Richmond. A red Toyota Prius owned by Aktilek Baktybekov was disabled in the left lane with Tolobek Esenbekov’s gray Hyundai Elantra parked behind it.
Esenbekov was getting out of his car to assist Baktybekov, who was on the road, when Patel crashed into the Hyundai, triggering a chain reaction involving four vehicles. Tragically, both Esenbekov and Baktybekov sustained fatal injuries in the crash. I-95 was shut down in both directions for several hours following the accident.
Police investigation revealed that Patel was driving a 2022 Ford Mustang at a speed of 71-72 mph using the Blue Cruise hands-free driving feature and Adaptive Cruise Control.
