Eagles’ post-cutdown needs and potential free agent targets in NFL cuts

As we gear up for the upcoming NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles find themselves in a unique position. With a solid roster in place, they are unlikely to make bulk waiver claims on other teams’ castoffs this year. Sitting at 22nd on the waiver priority order, the Eagles would have to wait for several other teams to pass on players before they could even put in a claim.

However, there are still a few positions where the Eagles could benefit from adding some depth:

  • Tight end: The Eagles currently only have two tight ends on their roster, making this their most pressing need post-cutdowns. It’s highly probable that they will look to add another tight end soon.
  • Backup center: With the recent release of Brett Toth and Dylan McMahon, the Eagles may need to bolster their options at center. Securing Toth back on the practice squad or reclaiming McMahon after waivers could provide some relief in this area.
  • Backup nose tackle: Surprisingly, the Eagles lack a clear backup at nose tackle. Head coach Vic Fangio even suggested that a smaller player like Milton Williams might have to fill the role. Adding depth at this position could be beneficial for the team.

Five potential cuts from other NFL teams that could fit well with the Eagles:

  • WR Noah Brown: Recently cut by Houston, Brown has shown promise with his recent performances. His versatility to play both inside and outside could offer the Eagles added depth at wide receiver.
  • TE Donald Parham: A productive tight end with the Chargers, Parham could be a valuable addition to the Eagles’ TE group.
  • TE Jack Stoll: Despite limitations in his receiving and blocking abilities, Stoll has familiarity with the Eagles’ system and could be a reliable backup option.
  • NT Siaki Ika: A former Browns draft pick, Ika brings size and potential to the nose tackle position. Although his recent release raises concerns, he could be worth a look for the practice squad.
  • QB Sean Clifford: Providing valuable Week 1 intel, Clifford could be a solid addition to the practice squad for the Eagles.

Bonus:

RB Frank Gore Jr.: Adding Gore Jr. could bring some veteran experience and depth to the running back position.

Celebrating 5 years!
