With over 100 NBA players entering free agency and signing new deals since June 30, there are still notable names remaining on the market after more than six weeks. Let’s take a look at some of the NBA free agents with ties to the Sixers.
Markelle Fultz
The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Markelle Fultz, finds himself without a team after a stint with the Orlando Magic. Fultz, known for his shooting struggles, showed improvement in Orlando and could provide value to teams seeking a talented guard at a veteran’s minimum contract.
Marcus Morris Sr.
A true stretch big, Marcus Morris Sr. could offer depth for the Sixers at power forward and center positions. Morris, who had a brief stint with the team before, might consider a Philadelphia reunion given the team’s current needs.
Robert Covington
Known for his defensive prowess, Robert Covington, part of the Sixers’ past trade involving Jimmy Butler, could bring solid wing play and three-point shooting if available and healthy. While concerns about his durability may deter the Sixers, Covington’s defensive skills remain appealing.
Landry Shamet
Formerly drafted by the Sixers, Landry Shamet is now a journeyman in the league. Despite his diminished role in recent years, Shamet’s three-point shooting prowess could be enticing for teams in need of outside scoring.
Additional Notable Names
Thaddeus Young, Justin Holiday, and JaVale McGee, all with unique NBA journeys, offer veteran experience and various skill sets that could benefit teams in different capacities.
