Welcome to the enhanced behavioral health offerings by Independence Blue Cross (IBX). IBX has expanded its coverage to include mental health and substance use disorder services and member programs to support the overall health of its members. This expansion ensures that members receive the care they need quickly and have a wider selection of clinicians to choose from.
Improving Access to Care
IBX’s expanded behavioral health network provides members with a comprehensive range of services for various conditions, including general mental health, services for children, adolescents, and young adults, and treatment for specific conditions like eating disorders and substance use disorders. With over 6,700 behavioral health practitioners in the Philadelphia five-county region, including a significant increase in providers who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), IBX is committed to ensuring cultural competency and language accessibility for its members.
IBX is also focusing on health equity in behavioral health by promoting and compensating for depression screenings by all providers, not just behavioral health specialists, to address disparities in diagnosis and treatment.
In addition, IBX offers an expanded range of virtual care options, including the “Connect to Care” providers who offer convenient access to appointments with scheduling tools and live intake. With approximately 4,000 appointments available per month and appointment availability within seven days, members can access care quickly and efficiently.
Guiding Members to the Right Care
To assist members in navigating the complex healthcare system, IBX provides Behavioral Health Case Managers, Customer Care Advocates, and a Clinical Triage Team to support all aspects of care. Case Managers proactively identify members who may benefit from behavioral health services, resulting in quicker access to care and improved health outcomes.
Members also have access to care navigation services provided by specialized IBX Behavioral Health Customer Care Advocates and Licensed Behavioral Health professionals, ensuring rapid connection to the right care options based on individual needs. The Clinical Triage Team is available to address high-risk cases and provide immediate support, underscoring IBX’s commitment to member well-being.
Additional Support and Tools
IBX members enrolled in fully insured health plans can access additional support from Quartet Health, a company that matches them to mental health care services covered by their insurance. The Virtual Clinic launched in collaboration with IBX offers expedited appointments for patients with serious mental illnesses.
IBX also offers access to the Shatterproof Treatment Atlas® tool for comparing addiction treatment facilities and mental health coaching services by Teladoc Health. These resources provide personalized support and guidance for a range of mental health concerns, available 24/7 for members’ convenience.
