Excitement is building as training camp kicks off, signaling the start of a new NFL season, and for Eagles fans, there’s plenty to discuss. Jalen Hurts is showing improved throwing accuracy, the offense looks more dynamic with additions like Saquon Barkley and coordinator Kellen Moore, and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has the defense back on track. The NovaCare Complex is abuzz as players gear up for Week 1, even though pads haven’t been donned just yet.
Here’s a glimpse of the latest buzz surrounding the Eagles as they prepare for the upcoming season…
Who Will Step Up?
Dave Zangaro | NBC Sports Philadelphia
While Darius Slay has solidified one starting cornerback position, the spot opposite him is still up for grabs. Isaiah Rodgers, who missed last season due to suspension, has been impressing and is in contention for the role. Quinyon Mitchell and Kelee Ringo are also in the mix. Rodgers’ performance in training camp has been noteworthy, as pointed out by Dave Zangaro.
During the spring, Rodgers didn’t show any signs of rust after a year suspension and he’s kept it up in training camp. He’s given up some catches but so have all the corners; it’s tough to cover [A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith]. But what’s notable is that Rodgers got the first reps as a first-team cornerback to begin camp. The battle between him and Kelee Ringo (who has also looked solid) is ongoing. Rookie Quinyon Mitchell is also potentially in the mix. [NBCSP]
In a recent practice, Rodgers showcased his skills by sticking to his assignments well, despite a minor slip-up against DeVonta Smith. Overall, he’s been performing admirably.
Planning Ahead

With most offseason business wrapped up, the Eagles could benefit from securing a Milton Williams extension for future stability. Williams, a key player on the defensive line, has shown promise and could be in for a breakout season, especially with the changes in the roster following Fletcher Cox’s retirement.
