During the 2024 offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles made a bold move by trading Haason Reddick to the New York Jets and signing Jets free agent Bryce Huff to a lucrative three-year deal worth $51 million. While the two edge rushers weren’t technically swapped for each other, it was essentially a trade that hasn’t panned out as expected for either team.
Reddick’s absence during Jets training camp and the first three games has left fans questioning the trade, while Huff’s lackluster performance with the Eagles has raised concerns about the team’s decision to sign him. In Week 3, Huff’s limited playing time and subpar stats have left much to be desired.
Interestingly, there have been rumblings of a potential trade to bring Reddick back to the Eagles, as reported by Jets beat writer Rich Cimini on ESPN’s “Flight Deck” podcast. Cimini’s insights shed light on the situation and hint at Reddick’s possible interest in returning to Philadelphia.
“Bryce Huff, probably one of the more disappointing free agents in the NFL right now… I don’t think that’s an indictment on Huff. I mean, we know he’s a good player…he’s misused by the Eagles…Could he get traded to the Jets? Reddick wouldn’t mind going back to Philadelphia…”
While Huff’s performance has been underwhelming, there is a glimmer of hope in the form of a potential trade that could see Reddick donning the Eagles jersey once again. The idea of a swap between the two players, while intriguing, may not come to fruition due to cap implications for the Eagles.
