The Eagles’ defensive line is facing a changing of the guard. With Fletcher Cox retiring, Brandon Graham on his last season, and Haason Reddick traded away, younger linemen are stepping up to take the reins.
Players like Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Moro Ojomo, Milton Williams, Nolan Smith, and Bryce Huff are poised to make an impact this season. The future of the Eagles’ defense rests on their shoulders, especially on the interior line.
“Absolutely,” Davis remarked after a recent practice. “We’re the future, and we have to step up. There’s no one coming to save us, so we need to be the best we can be.”
Davis, the 13th overall pick in 2022, is entering a crucial Year 3. Known for his size and athleticism, he has shown flashes of brilliance but needs to become a consistent force on the field.
Carter impressed as a rookie pass rusher, while Smith is expected to take on a larger role. Williams and Ojomo have shown potential, and Huff joins as a key pass rusher.
Under new coordinator Vic Fangio, the Eagles’ defense is set to thrive with an aggressive, rush-heavy system.
“We want to be the anchors of the defense,” Davis emphasized. “Our goal is to make plays and be solid in all aspects of the game.”
