Welcome to the recap of Tuesday’s primary election for New Jersey’s 3rd District of the U.S. Congress! The race saw five Democrats and four Republicans vying for their parties’ nominations. In the end, Herb Conaway emerged victorious in the Democratic primary, while Rajesh Mohan secured the Republican nomination.

With incumbent Democrat Andy Kim running for U.S. Senate, the 3rd District is up for grabs. Located in Burlington, Mercer, and Monmouth counties, the district has a history of switching between Democratic and Republican representation.

Democratic Candidates

Herb Conaway, a seasoned Assemblyman and physician, brings 26 years of legislative experience to the race. His platform focuses on democracy protection, abortion rights, and climate change action. Joe Cohn, a civil rights attorney, emphasizes bipartisan collaboration, healthcare affordability, and climate change solutions. Assemblywoman Carol Murphy seeks to uplift middle-class families through federal resources. Small business owner Sarah Schoengood prioritizes women’s reproductive rights and green energy initiatives. Finally, public school teacher Brian Schkeeper advocates for affordable healthcare and education.

Republican Candidates

Rajesh Mohan, a cardiologist, aims to apply his clinical expertise to government improvement. His platform includes border protection, healthcare reforms, and economic growth strategies. Business consultant Gregory Sobicinski highlights the need for fiscal responsibility, education reform, and nuclear energy development. CEO Shirley Maia-Cusick, an immigrant from Brazil, focuses on conservative values and reducing foreign involvement. Jersey City native Michael Francis Faccone stresses collaboration, transparency, and policies to address crime, taxes, and inequality.

As we await the official results, stay tuned for more updates on the outcome of this exciting race in New Jersey’s 3rd District!
