Attention Walmart shoppers! A recent recall has been issued for Apple juice bottles sold at Walmart due to high levels of inorganic arsenic according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Over 9,500 cases of Great Value 8-ounce apple juice bottles have been pulled from shelves in 27 states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

The “Best if Used by” date of the affected juice is Dec. 28, 2024 with the UPC code 0-78742-29655-5. This recall was initially issued on Aug. 15 and was recently updated to a Class II recall, meaning the health consequences are reversible or unlikely to cause serious harm.

Arsenic is a mineral found naturally in the environment and can enter food during processing. Inorganic arsenic is particularly toxic and long-term exposure can lead to serious health issues including an increased risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease. Symptoms of immediate poisoning may include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

So if you have purchased apple juice from Walmart recently, be sure to check the label for the affected “Best if Used by” date and UPC code. Your health is important, so stay informed and stay safe!
