With the Phillies securing a bye into the NLDS, they are now focused on getting ready for a deep postseason run. As they rest up and prepare at home, the Dodgers, Yankees, and Guardians are also eagerly watching the other playoff matchups unfold.
Let’s take a look at the full field and analyze which teams the Phillies and their fans should be rooting for:
6. Mets vs. 3. Brewers
The Phillies will face the winner of this series. Philly has had success against both the Mets and the Brewers this season. The Brewers, with their strong fundamentals and excellent bullpen, pose a challenge. On the other hand, the Mets have momentum but may be exhausted from a hectic schedule. Despite the difficulty, the Mets might be the preferred opponent for the Phillies.
5. Braves vs. 4. Padres
While the matchup between the Braves and Padres is a toss-up, facing the Braves in the NLCS might be advantageous for the Phillies. Atlanta has been competitive against Philly this season, and avoiding the star-studded Dodgers could pave the way for a World Series run.
6. Tigers vs. 3. Astros
If the Astros advance, it might offer the Phillies a chance for revenge. However, the Tigers could also pose a challenge for the Guardians and provide an interesting storyline for Phillies fans.
5. Royals vs. 4. Orioles
Although the Phillies struggled against Baltimore, facing the Orioles might be better than a matchup against the Yankees in the World Series. By rooting for the Orioles, Phillies fans hope for an upset that could benefit their team in the long run.
