The assailant quickly fled the scene, accompanied by a second vehicle, according to 6ABC. The victim was rushed to a hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after midnight.
Authorities discovered a firearm and evidence of at least five shots at the site. Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small mentioned that it was unclear whether the gun belonged to the victim or the shooter.
While the investigation unfolds, the police are seeking assistance from Old City’s nightlife venues to identify the perpetrator. Small stated, “Where the shooting occurred in the unit block of South 2nd Street, there are numerous bars, clubs, and restaurants, most of which were open at the time and equipped with exterior surveillance cameras. Several cameras captured the tragic incident.”
