Walker has faced challenges throughout the season, leading to a move to the bullpen that initially did not yield significant results.
However, during a crucial game against the Mets, he was called upon to relieve Kolby Allard and excelled, pitching three shutout innings and helping the Phillies secure a comeback victory.
“It feels good when you can help the team,” Walker expressed. “I feel like I haven’t done a good job helping the team this year, so any little way I can help… I’m happy I was able to do it today. A big one for us.”
Now, Walker looks ahead to his next start, aiming to contribute to the team’s success as they push towards the NL East pennant.
To accommodate Walker’s return to the rotation, Allard will move to the bullpen, according to The Athletic’s Matt Gelb.
