Exciting Preseason Victory for Eagles as Tanner McKee Leads Comeback
Thursday night’s preseason matchup against the Patriots was a mixed bag for the Eagles’ offense. However, when Tanner McKee stepped onto the field, he took charge and led a thrilling comeback.
“Just trying to take what the defense gave us,” McKee remarked postgame, showcasing his confidence under pressure during critical moments.
With just over seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, McKee orchestrated a commanding drive that culminated in a touchdown, putting the Eagles ahead 14-13.
McKee’s precise passing and strategic decision-making were on full display as he completed 15 of 19 passes for 140 yards without being sacked.
Comparatively, Kenny Pickett, the designated backup, struggled to find his rhythm, completing only 11 of 13 passes for 67 yards and facing four sacks.
This isn’t the first time McKee has overshadowed the QB ahead of him. Last season, he impressed as a rookie, and this year, he’s continued to make a strong case for his talents.
While there may be lingering questions about McKee’s position on the depth chart, head coach Nick Sirianni has reiterated that Pickett is the No. 2 and McKee is the No. 3 for now.
Despite the Eagles’ official stance, fans are buzzing about McKee’s potential and performance on the field.
“Kenny has been a great teammate, and we’re going to continue to compete probably the whole year,” McKee stated, reflecting his determination to prove himself.
As McKee’s star continues to rise, it’s clear that the Eagles have a promising talent waiting in the wings. Could he be the future backup quarterback Philadelphia needs?
