Rookie DB Cooper DeJean made a noteworthy debut in team drills today. Positioned mainly in the slot with the second team defense, DeJean showcased his versatility by taking some reps outside as well. Keep an eye on him as he vies for a starting slot cornerback role alongside Quinyon Mitchell.
Mitchell shined with a stellar pass breakup against DeVonta Smith on the sideline, displaying his excellent ball skills.
But the talk of the day centered around the quarterbacks, specifically the standout performance of Tanner McKee and the struggles of Kenny Pickett in the Eagles’ recent preseason game against the Patriots. Coach Nick Sirianni hinted at potential trade interest in one of their QBs, setting tongues wagging among fans and analysts alike.
In practice, McKee continued to impress with his poise and accuracy, while Pickett faltered with late throws and errant passes. The QB competition is heating up, and it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out in the coming weeks.
Elsewhere, Jalen Hurts maintained his interception-free streak, showcasing his consistency and connection with A.J. Brown on various routes. The rapport between the two is evident, keeping the offense in sync and dynamic.
Quick Takes:
- Mekhi Becton showed flashes of brilliance but also moments of vulnerability in today’s drills, a sign of the highs and lows expected from this physical specimen.
- Rookie edge rusher Jalyx Hunt turned heads with his speed and aggression, making a strong case for a roster spot.
- Nakobe Dean bounced back from a rough patch, delivering impactful plays and showcasing his physicality on the field.
