Tragedy Strikes: 13-Year-Old Girl Fatally Shot While Visiting Friends in North Philly

Heartbreaking news emerged from North Philly as a 13-year-old girl was fatally shot while visiting friends in a house on Wednesday night. The Philadelphia Police responded to 911 calls of a shooting around 7:37 p.m. on the 2800 block of North Bailey Street. Upon arrival, authorities found the young girl unresponsive on the second floor of the residence, with a gunshot wound on the right side of her chest.

Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the girl, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital at 8:02 p.m.

Chief Inspector Scott Small, in an interview with CBS Philadelphia, revealed that the victim was not a resident of the home and had been visiting friends with family members. Detectives are currently speaking with adults associated with the residence and have interviewed the girl’s family members to piece together what transpired. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no weapons were found at the scene.

Small also informed FOX29 that several teenage boys reside in the home and that at least two of them were seen fleeing the house after the gunshot rang out. Authorities are scouring surveillance footage from private cameras on the block to determine if anyone entered or exited the property around the time of the incident.

Individuals who may have information regarding the shooting are urged to contact the police’s Homicide Unit at (215) 686-3334 or call the Philly Police tipline at (215) 686-8477. A reward of $20,000 is being offered for any information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
