Independence Blue Cross has proudly announced the remarkable winners of this year’s Celebrate Caring campaign, highlighting the outstanding nurses in the region who go above and beyond in providing exceptional care. Nominated by patients, family members, and colleagues, these nurses truly exemplify excellence and dedication in their field.
The deserving honorees are Allison Denman, a clinical director and forensic nurse manager at Drexel University College of Nursing and Health Professions’ Philadelphia Sexual Assault Response Center; Jasmine Hudson, an inpatient diabetes nurse practitioner with the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Penn Medicine; and Francis Doran, a registered nurse in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Penn Medicine.
Allison Denman plays a crucial role at the city’s primary resource for forensic evidence collection and medical care for victims of acute sexual assault. Also serving as a certified expert witness, Denman specializes in providing testimony on legal standards of care for sexual assault nurse examiners and related trauma and pathology.

Jasmine Hudson focuses on addressing social determinants impacting diabetes patients by leading initiatives to enhance care transitions and follow-up appointments. She has spearheaded community partnerships and education programs to improve diabetes care outcomes and advocate for community health.
Francis Doran, apart from his tireless work in the cardiac intensive care unit, volunteers with the Kensington Project to provide essential medical care and support to individuals experiencing homelessness and substance use disorder.
This year, the winners will be honored with the Sunshine Award, in memory of Paula Sunshine, for their exceptional contributions. Each winner will receive a $500 gift card and a $2,500 donation to a nonprofit organization of their choice.
