Get ready to soar to new heights at the 2024 Visit Atlantic City Airshow! Excitement was building for this annual beachfront event, but unfortunately, it was recently announced that the airshow has been canceled. The Greater Atlantic City Chamber, Visit Atlantic City, and the South Jersey Transportation Authority came together to issue a joint statement about the decision.

This beloved tradition, which has been captivating audiences for over two decades, was scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Aug. 13, and Wednesday, Aug. 14. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the event had to be called off. The organizers expressed their regret over the cancellation, citing a major act withdrawing from the airshow as the primary reason. Despite the disappointment, they expressed gratitude to everyone who has supported the event over the years.

In an effort to save the 2024 airshow earlier this year, the state pledged $300,000 in funding. Unfortunately, issues with the event’s performers, including the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, led to the withdrawal of this funding. The Thunderbirds, known for their thrilling performances, decided to exclude Atlantic City from their schedule, as they no longer participate in midweek shows.

While the main attraction, Polaris Dawn’s Ghost Squadron, was ready to take the stage, they faced challenges with completing a recertification in time for the show. Despite having a lineup of 40 acts planned for the event, the funding was pulled, leaving organizers scrambling to make alternative arrangements.

Despite this setback, there is hope for the future. Last year’s airshow drew in a record-breaking crowd of over 485,000 spectators, showcasing the city’s appeal as a premier destination. Organizers are optimistic about the event returning next year, with plans already in motion to make it bigger and better than ever.

While we may have to wait a little longer for the thrill of the Atlantic City Airshow, rest assured that efforts are underway to bring this iconic event back to the beach backdrop of Atlantic City. Stay tuned for updates and get ready to experience the adrenaline-pumping excitement of the Visit Atlantic City Airshow once again!
