Welcome to the bustling city of Chicago, where the Democratic National Convention is set to kick off on Monday evening. However, one familiar face will be noticeably absent from the event – Sen. John Fetterman from Pennsylvania.
Sen. Fetterman has decided to skip the convention in order to prioritize spending quality time with his family. This decision was made well in advance of the June 27 debate between President Biden and Trump, which ultimately led to Biden dropping out of the race.

When asked about his decision, Sen. Fetterman told the Free Press, “I’ve got three young kids, and they’re out of school. That’s four days I can spend with my children.”
While some may speculate that his absence is related to his strong pro-Israel stance, Sen. Fetterman’s decision seems to be solely based on family priorities. His support for Israel has stirred controversy among progressives, leading to protests and criticism.
Despite Fetterman’s absence, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, who was once considered a potential running mate for Kamala Harris, will be in attendance at the DNC.
Interestingly, Sen. Fetterman is not the only Democratic senator to skip the convention. Jon Tester from Montana cited harvest season and farm duties as the reasons for his absence, while Sherrod Brown from Ohio and Jacky Rosen from Nevada will also be missing from the event.
