A tragic incident has shocked the hockey community as NHL star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were struck and killed by a vehicle while bicycling in Oldmans Township, New Jersey. The Gaudreaus were in the area to be groomsmen in their sister’s wedding, but their lives were cut short in a heartbreaking accident.

The driver, Sean Higgins, has been charged with two counts of death by auto and is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, were beloved figures in the hockey world, leaving behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Johnny, also known as “Johnny Hockey,” rose to fame during his time at Boston College, winning the Hobey Baker Award in 2014. He then went on to have a successful career in the NHL, playing for the Calgary Flames before joining the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2022. His impact on and off the ice was felt by fans and teammates alike.

Matthew followed a similar path, playing alongside Johnny at Boston College and then pursuing a career in the minor leagues. Despite his own success, he remained deeply rooted in South Jersey, giving back to the community that shaped him.

The loss of the Gaudreau brothers has sent shockwaves through the hockey world, with teams and fans mourning their untimely passing. The legacy they leave behind is one of talent, dedication, and compassion, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing them.

It’s with great sadness, we mourn the tragic deaths of our friend Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gaudreau family during this difficult time. May Johnny and Matthew rest in peace, knowing they will forever be remembered as shining stars in the world of hockey.
