The Phillies are facing a tough battle with injuries, as key players like Alec Bohm and Kyle Schwarber are dealing with various ailments. Despite the challenges presented by wear and tear in baseball, the team is still in a good position to secure a postseason spot.

As the regular season winds down, the Phillies are inching closer to clinching the NL East with their magic number at 10 and a first-round postseason bye at 14. This gives them the opportunity to rest some players and ensure they are in top form for the playoffs.

Let’s take a closer look at the status of some of the team’s key injured players:

Kyle Schwarber, DH, elbow

Following a precautionary move to pull Schwarber from a recent game due to a bruised elbow, the team is optimistic that he will be back in action soon. Given his importance as a leadoff hitter, it may be wise to give him some extra rest to fully recover.

J.T. Realmuto, C, knee

Realmuto has been sidelined with a knee injury but is expected to return to the lineup against the Mets this weekend. The team is taking precautions to ensure he is fully recovered before he resumes catching duties.

Alec Bohm, 3B, left hand

Bohm’s hand injury has sidelined him from play, with his return date still uncertain. The team’s priority is to have him back for the postseason, so they are taking a cautious approach to his recovery.

Edmundo Sosa, INF, back

Sosa’s back spasms have kept him out of action, but he is expected to return around mid-September. The team is hopeful that he will be back on the field soon to contribute to their postseason push.

Austin Hayes, OF, kidney infection

Hayes has been dealing with a kidney infection and his return timeline is uncertain. However, the team is optimistic that he will be back in time for the playoffs, providing depth in the outfield.

Spencer Turnbull, RP, right lat

Turnbull is ramping up his recovery and is expected to face live hitters soon. The team hopes to have him back in time for the postseason to bolster their pitching staff.

Despite the challenges posed by injuries, the Phillies remain focused on their goal of securing a playoff spot and making a deep postseason run. Stay tuned for updates on the team’s injured players as they work towards their ultimate goal.
