The Philadelphia Phillies are no stranger to packed crowds at Citizens Bank Park, with their top-ranked attendance in MLB. One area that has struggled to keep up with the demand is the New Era team store, prompting the team to take action and seek approval for an expansion project.

This week, the Philadelphia Art Commission gave the green light for the Phillies to move forward with a plan to enlarge the team store located at the corner of Pattison Avenue and Citizens Bank Way. This expansion will add over 3,500 square feet of floor space, aiming to alleviate the congestion that has been a common sight in recent years.

The Phillies’ proposal also includes creating an additional 3,500 square feet of storage space on the main concourse and suite level above the shop. The team is optimistic about completing the work over the next two offseasons, ensuring a more spacious and efficient shopping experience for fans.

At a meeting with the art commission, the team outlined their plans to utilize existing landscaped areas and convert unused space inside the ballpark to accommodate the expansion. Renderings of the project display a design that harmonizes with the current facade of the team store, promising a seamless integration of the new space.

As part of the expansion, the Phillies plan to remove and replace trees outside the stadium, enhancing visibility with the introduction of lower plants. While the project received approval, the art commission urged the team to consider adding more trees and shaded areas to enhance the overall appeal.

The team’s evolving philosophy for Citizens Bank Park includes a focus on engaging fans beyond the seating area, evident in recent additions like the Pass & Stow pub and shaded seating near the third base gate. Continuous improvements aim to create a welcoming environment for fans to enjoy the game-day experience.

With preparations underway for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park, the expansion project coincides with the upcoming influx of fans. The revamped New Era store will provide an enhanced shopping experience for visitors looking to commemorate this monumental event.

Beyond the store expansion, recent upgrades at the ballpark, including new video boards and scoreboards, demonstrate the Phillies’ commitment to enhancing the fan experience. With a solid ranking in home attendance, the team remains dedicated to providing top-notch amenities for their loyal supporters.

Furthermore, the Phillies are part of a long-term development plan with Comcast Spectacor to bring additional amenities to the Sports Complex in South Philadelphia. This ambitious $2.5 billion project will introduce new dining options, entertainment venues, and future residential developments, promising an exciting future for fans and residents alike.
