Independence Hall, a major landmark in Old City, is currently facing a minor issue as the National Park Service recently discovered a crack in the north-facing clock of its tower. According to an Instagram post, the crack is likely a result of an imperfection in the glass or tight glazing clamps and will be repaired this fall.

Independence Hall is the historical site where the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution were signed. It is part of the wider Independence National Historical Park, which also includes the iconic Liberty Bell. This site is one of the three national historical parks in Pennsylvania under NPS’s care.
The Instagram post expressed gratitude for the continued support in keeping this national shrine in top condition, stating, “Thank you for your continued support as we put our best (clock) face 🕢😀 forward!”.
Representatives for Independence National Historical Park have not responded to requests for comments at the moment.
