Tragedy struck in Southwest Philly on Friday night, leaving one man dead and three others injured after a shooting at a local business, as reported by authorities.

The chaotic scene unfolded at 58th Street and Greenway Avenue, where a car crash escalated into a shooting around 9:53 p.m., according to a report by NBC10. Not long after, another shooting incident less than a mile away was reported.

Upon reaching the 6500 block of Woodland Avenue, law enforcement discovered a 58-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest inside a corner store at Woodland and Gould Street in the Elmwood neighborhood.

The unidentified man was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries at around 10:30 p.m.

Another victim, a 25-year-old man, was found with a gunshot wound to his neck and was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man and a 42-year-old man, both sustaining gunshot wounds, were also hospitalized – one in stable condition and the other undergoing treatment.

Investigators recovered 11 spent shell casings at the scene outside the store as they probed the incident.

Authorities believe that the initial car crash that spiraled into violence is unrelated to the shooting at the corner store, and one individual was apprehended in connection with the former case.
