Get ready for a blast from the past! MLB announced on Monday that starting next season, the NL and AL All-Stars will be reverting back to wearing their main team’s uniforms in the Midsummer Classic. This decision comes after the not-so-popular Nike-templated uniforms introduced earlier this year received a lot of backlash from both players and fans.

In 2021, the MLB All-Star Game made a comeback after a pandemic-induced hiatus with specially designed uniforms for the National League and American League players. While some loved the new look, many missed the unique display of players representing their clubs on the field. The consensus was that the new uniforms were hit or miss, prompting MLB to bring back club-specific uniforms starting next season.

As for the changes to the Nike uniforms, get ready for bigger lettering on the back, a return to old materials used in 2023, and customized pants, all coming in 2025. The modifications were made after discussions with Nike, Fanatics, and the MLB Players Association. Players and fans alike had issues with the original Nike uniforms, from small lettering to thin material that made the uniforms look transparent and uncomfortable to wear.

Fans were unhappy with the changes given the high prices of the replica and authentic jerseys. Players were vocal about their dissatisfaction as well, prompting the Players Association to step in and demand improvements. While some changes will take time to implement, MLB is committed to getting the uniforms right for the 2026 season.

So get ready to see your favorite All-Stars back in their team’s iconic uniforms on the field next season. And be sure to follow Nick on Twitter @itssnick for more updates!
