As the Eagles training camp draws to a close in South Philadelphia, anticipation builds for their upcoming third preseason game against the Vikings. PhillyVoice’s camp practice game ball series continues, highlighting two standout players who have consistently impressed throughout the summer. These two Eagles players have shown potential for All-Pro seasons, setting them apart from the rest.
Offensive game ball: WR A.J. Brown
A.J. Brown has solidified himself as one of the top receivers in the league, showcasing his talent at the NovaCare Complex. His connection with Jalen Hurts on the field has been unstoppable, especially on slant routes. But Brown’s versatility goes beyond that, as he excelled in various routes during practice, including out routes, comebacks, and go routes. One particular highlight was a deep pass from Hurts that Brown effortlessly caught, despite tight coverage from rookie Quinyon Mitchell.
While Mitchell shows promise for a successful NFL career, none of the Eagles’ defensive backs have been able to contain Brown during camp.
Defensive game ball: DT Jalen Carter
Jalen Carter demonstrates an impressive ability to penetrate the backfield quickly, using his technique to bypass the Eagles’ offensive line. During Tuesday’s practice, Carter made a notable impact in the run game, including a pivotal tackle for loss against Saquon Barkley. Defensive line coach Clint Hurtt praised Carter’s talent, emphasizing the importance of consistent development and effort.
Carter’s undeniable talent sets him up for a promising future, with the upcoming season poised to test his ability to maintain peak performance throughout. Expect great things from him in 2024.
