The Philadelphia Eagles have made a promising move by claiming DT Byron Young off waivers, as reported by NFL Network.
It’s important to note that this is not the Byron Young who was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams, but rather the one drafted 70th overall by the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2023 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he showed potential with four tackles.
Before his time in the NFL, Young was a standout player at Alabama, where he recorded 48 tackles, four sacks, and showcased his skills as a versatile interior defensive lineman. According to a scouting report by Lance Zierlein, Young has the traits and versatility to excel in various defensive alignments.
“He’s likely to fit into a rotational role early on but could develop into an average starter down the road.”
One notable physical attribute of Young is his huge hands and long arms, as highlighted in his spider chart.
Although Young initially made the Raiders’ roster, he was waived shortly after and is now set to join the Eagles’ defensive line rotation. With seven interior defensive linemen on the roster, the Eagles will need to make room for Young by releasing or waiving another player.
