Eagles TE Okwuegbunam to Injured Reserve

Philadelphia Eagles fans, brace yourselves for some disappointing news. Tight end Albert Okwuegbunam is heading to injured reserve, according to a report from Jeff McLane of the Inquirer. This move comes after Okwuegbunam underwent a core muscle repair, sidelining him for the next 6-8 weeks. However, there is a silver lining as he will be eligible to return later in the season.

The Eagles acquired Okwuegbunam last year on cutdown day, but his time on the field was limited, with just one target and a missed catch in four games. With the team’s tight end depth now reduced to Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra, the Eagles are in need of another player at the position. The decision to use one of their designated return spots on Okwuegbunam is raising eyebrows, as it may have been more prudent to release him with an injury settlement and re-sign him later.

As the Eagles finalize their 53-man roster, fans can expect more changes and additions, especially at the tight end position. Keep an eye on our ‘cut down to 53’ tracker for the latest updates on the team’s roster moves.
