Tragedy struck in North Philadelphia on Saturday when a car collided with a Philadelphia Fire Department ladder truck, resulting in one death and one injury, according to police reports.
The incident occurred at around 12:10 p.m. at the intersection of West Lehigh and West Sedgley Avenues, as NBC10 detailed. The ladder truck was traveling westbound on West Lehigh Avenue en route to an assignment when a car traveling north on West Sedgley Avenue abruptly cut in front of the truck, leading to the collision, authorities stated.

The impact of the crash also caused the car to hit an unoccupied parked vehicle, as reported by 6ABC. Unfortunately, a 23-year-old passenger in the car succumbed to her injuries at the hospital just before 1 p.m., while the driver, a man in his late twenties, remains in critical condition.
The Philadelphia police’s Crash Investigation Division is currently looking into the details of the accident. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed, and it is uncertain whether charges will be pressed in connection with the incident.
