Welcome to the sunny shores of Nassau, The Bahamas, where the 2024-25 Sixers have kicked off their training camp in style. Under the leadership of head coach Nick Nurse, the team is gearing up for an intense five-day camp to sharpen their skills and bond as a unit. With two hotel ballrooms transformed into basketball courts and training areas, the players are fully immersed in the grind.

One noteworthy observation from the team’s first practice was Joel Embiid’s absence from the scrimmage. However, Coach Nurse clarified that Embiid is not injured but is being strategically managed to ensure he is in peak condition. Similar load management plans are in place for veterans Kyle Lowry and Eric Gordon.

Nick Nurse said that Joel Embiid, Kyle Lowry, and Eric Gordon participated in today’s practice in full — except for scrimmaging.

Here’s a glimpse into some key insights and quotes from Coach Nurse and the team’s veterans after day one of the camp:

• Nurse sheds light on the significance of extra possessions and defensive prowess as the team’s early focus, emphasizing the importance of “The Ball Wins” motto.

“We’re trying to create more possessions. We’re trying to be really good at not turning it over, creating turnovers, defensive rebounding better, offensive rebounding better, all those kinds of things.”

• Players like Tyrese Maxey, Kelly Oubre, Caleb Martin, and Guerschon Yabusele caught Coach Nurse’s eye for their athleticism and energy on the first day.

• Kelly Oubre praises the team’s blend of youth and experience, highlighting his role in bridging the gap between generations and helping younger players.

• Andre Drummond commends the team’s energy and camaraderie on the first camp day and appreciates Coach Nurse’s coaching style that emphasizes player empowerment.

Get ready for an action-packed season with the Sixers as they gear up under the tropical skies of The Bahamas and prepare to dominate the court with their newfound energy and determination. Stay tuned for more updates from the training camp!
