Ranger Suárez is making a triumphant return to the mound Saturday night as he gets the start against the Royals.
The talented lefthander was reinstated from the 15-day Injured List earlier this morning, the Phillies confirmed. In order to make space for him on the roster, reliever Tyler Gilbert was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Prior to tonight’s game against the Kansas City Royals, the Phillies reinstated left-handed pitcher Ranger Suárez from the 15-day IL. To make room for Suárez on the 26-man roster, left-handed pitcher Tyler Gilbert was optioned to Lehigh Valley (AAA) following last night’s game.

Suárez’s last start was on July 22 against the Twins, resulting in a 7-2 loss for the Phillies and marking his third consecutive defeat. Following this, he was sidelined for over a month due to lower-back tightness that had been bothering him since before the All-Star break. This setback came around the time when his early-season dominance started to fade.
During Suárez’s absence, the Phillies faced a challenging period, further highlighted by Friday night’s tough game in Kansas City. With their recent struggles, the team is eagerly anticipating Suárez’s return in the hopes that he can replicate his stellar performance and elevate the team’s overall performance.
