Welcome to the debut installment of Sixers Soundbites, a captivating series that will keep you connected to the Sixers players, coaches, and executives with exclusive quotes from the 2024-25 NBA season. As the new season kicks off, get ready to dive into the minds of the Sixers family like never before.

Recently, the Sixers hosted their annual Media Day at their practice facility in Camden, NJ to introduce the revamped 2024-25 roster. Here are some standout quotes from various members of the organization that caught our attention:

Sixers Player Previews: Critical Questions and Predictions for the 2024-25 Roster

Daryl Morey, President of Basketball Operations, shared heartfelt words on the passing of the legendary Dikembe Mutombo:

“I knew him personally. We spent a lot of time together during his seasons in Houston. He was a towering figure for the Sixers franchise. A true gem of a human being. When I was a rookie GM, he was my guiding light. His impact on the court speaks for itself, but his off-court contributions to Africa were equally remarkable. Rest in peace, Dikembe.”

Nick Nurse, Head Coach, on the defensive potential of the trio Paul George, Caleb Martin, and Kelly Oubre Jr.:

“I believe we have the potential to excel defensively and offer great versatility, which excites me.”

Joel Embiid reflected on his Olympic experience and winning a gold medal:

“Finally reaching the conference finals and clinching a victory was a monumental achievement for me.”

Tyrese Maxey, on finding a long-term home with the Sixers:

“Walking into this facility fills me with joy and gratitude. I’ve worked tirelessly to be here, and I am determined to maximize my potential. I feel truly blessed.”
