Taylor Swift’s recent endorsement of Kamala Harris following the presidential debate in Philadelphia has sparked a variety of reactions from political pundits. Some hailed it as the most significant celebrity endorsement ever, while others dismissed it as predictable.
In an Instagram post, Swift shared that after conducting thorough research and watching the debate, she has decided to support Harris in the upcoming 2024 election. She emphasized Harris’ commitment to fighting for causes she believes in and debunked misinformation suggesting she supports former President Donald Trump.

Swift, a Berks County native, urged her massive following of 283 million followers to register to vote and make their voices heard.
Commenting on Swift’s endorsement, MSNBC pundit Lawrence O’Donnell expressed that while he is typically unimpressed by celebrity endorsements, Swift’s support of Harris could make a significant impact beyond the usual base of Democratic supporters. He described the endorsement as “perfect and powerful.”
Fellow commentator Joy Reid highlighted the importance of Swift’s endorsement, pointing out that Swift has a strong influence over young, white women – a demographic that Democrats have struggled to engage with in the past.
CNN correspondent Abby Phillip acknowledged the significance of having the support of a major figure in pop culture like Swift, but raised concerns about reaching other key demographics such as Black men.
Meanwhile, FOX News contributor Joe Concha downplayed the endorsement as expected, given Swift’s history of endorsing Democrats in previous elections.
Former President Donald Trump also weighed in on Swift’s endorsement during an appearance on “Fox and Friends,” expressing his support for Brittany Mahomes and questioning Swift’s decision to endorse a Democrat.
