Santucci’s Original Square Pizza, a beloved pizzeria originating in Northeast Philly, is expanding its presence in the region with three new locations in South Jersey and another in the city. Known for their signature square pies with sauce on top of the cheese, Santucci’s has garnered a loyal following over the years.
The new Jersey locations will be situated in Cherry Hill, at 100 Springdale Road in the Holly Ravine Shopping Center; Deptford, at 1710 Clements Bridge Road; and Brigantine, at 3800 Brigantine Blvd. While the opening dates of these new establishments are yet to be announced, anticipation is steadily building. The Brigantine location, which has been in the works since at least October, is still awaiting its grand opening.
In addition to the upcoming locations, Santucci’s already has a presence in Wildwood, Ventnor, and Washington Township in New Jersey. Within Philadelphia, the iconic pizzeria can be found in the Italian Market, Roxborough, and on North Broad Street near Wallace Street. Further expansion is on the horizon, with a new Santucci’s planned for University City. The brand also has locations in Fairless Hills, Media, and Paoli.
Santucci’s first ventured into the Jersey Shore scene in 2018 with its Ventnor location, followed by a presence on the Ocean City Boardwalk in 2019 (though this particular location has since closed its doors in 2022). The brand’s expansion continued with a store opening in Wildwood two years ago.
The roots of this eatery trace back to 1959 when it was founded by husband-and-wife Joseph and Philomena Santucci in the Juniata Park neighborhood of Northeast Philly. Remaining true to its origins, Santucci’s still uses the family recipe to craft its pizzas in square pans.
In 1976, Frank Santucci took the reins of the family business, overseeing its operations for over 40 years at the original location before making the move to South Philly. The legacy and dedication to quality have remained steadfast.
It’s worth noting that Santucci’s Original Square Pizza’s establishments stand apart from Joe Santucci’s Original Square Pizza Bar & Grill in Northeast Philly and Philomena Santucci’s Square Pizza locations in Warminster and Hatfield within Montgomery County. These separate venues, operated by Frank Santucci’s brother Joe and sister Teresa respectively, offer their own unique culinary experiences.
